There are so many cool new movies and series coming out this June that we recommend setting aside more free time to watch them in advance. So, we have prepared for you 7 movies and 7 series in June 2023 that you should pay attention to.

1. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (June 1)

The summer season opens with a very powerful premiere – a sequel to one of the best superhero cartoons (by the way, won an Oscar in 2019), which should show its older brother from Disney what the multiverse concept should really look like.

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Miles Morales finds himself in the Multiverse, where he meets an entire team of Spider-Men tasked with protecting the very existence of the Multiverse. But when the heroes face a new threat, Miles fights against the other Spiders and is forced to go on his own adventure to save those he loves most.

Expectations are high, because the previous part set a new trend in animation, which is used even by an industry veteran like Dreamworks (Puss in Boots 2). And the very plot about Spider-Men from different universes has been incredibly fascinating since the cartoon series of 1994.

It is very interesting what other variations of the famous hero will be seen in the sequel. For example, Spider-Cat has already become a popular favorite.

You can still watch the movie in the cinema.

2. Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts (June 8)

Pentalogy from Michael Bay was a box office success, but in terms of quality, the films became worse with each new part. It seemed like the franchise was about to shut down after the failure of the 5th movie, but 2018’s soulful Bumblebee reboot restored faith in the film series.

The events take place in 1994. In Brooklyn, a guy named Noah, a former military electronics expert, and Elena, an artifact researcher, find themselves in a three-way conflict between the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons, who aid Optimus Prime and the Autobots in their war to protect Earth from the arrival of Unicron.

They decided to change the standard formula of the war between Autobots and Decepticons a little. The sequel will feature new characters that first appeared in the cult Beast Wars series of the 1990s. Maximals are the same Autobots, only instead of machines they turn into beasts: gorillas, cheetahs, rhinos, etc. And fans of the franchise have been waiting for the opportunity to see the planet-eating robot Unicron again since 1986, when the legendary Transformers: The Movie was released.

This film will be a real feast for fans of the franchise and a great summer blockbuster even for those who know nothing about the Transformers universe at all.

We transform and go to the movies as soon as June 8.

3. The Flash (June 15)

A solo film about The Flash was announced back in 2014 and it was postponed, rewritten, and reshot so many times that it seemed it would never be released. But the premiere is coming soon and it is very interesting to see if the movie will be the high note that ends the DC Cinematic Universe.

Barry Allen / The Flash travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, and it takes him to an alternate reality without metahumans. He enlists the help of a younger version of himself, the Kryptonian Supergirl, and the old Batman (Michael Keaton returned to the role after 30 years since Tim Burton’s blockbuster films Batman in 1989 and Batman Returns in 1992). Barry and his friends must save this world from General Zod and return to his universe.

We think that Michael Shannon (Zod) and Michael Keaton (Batman) are already great arguments to go to the movies. We are waiting for a not-so-large-scale, but epic story based on the comic book Flashpoint, which at one time became a transition between the old DC universe and the new series The New 52. The screen adaptation, in turn, will be a bridge to the new films of James Gunn.

You can see this event in the cinema on June 15.

4. Elemental (June 15)

Let’s imagine a city in which representatives of different elements live together: air, earth, water, and fire. Of course, they could live separately and do not injure each other with accidental touches, but together is better. Ember Lumen – a representative of the element of fire somehow accidentally met Wade Ripple, a guy from the element of water. Ember and Wade are complete opposites, but in the turbulent diversity of the city, they begin to find something in common.

This time we are waiting for the realization of the thought: “What would happen if the 4 elements had feelings?”. In short, the Pixar studio doesn’t make bad cartoons, and they haven’t touched the theme of love since WALL-E, so we look forward to their new work. We consider this a perfect movie for lovers, as well as for the whole family.

It will be possible to watch the new work of the legendary studio Pixar from June 15.

5. Asteroid City (June 22)

It is not certain that it will be possible to find another director with such an incredible and recognizable style as Wes Anderson. Symmetry, bright colors, a surrounding toy interior and an incredible cast (this time Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Margot Robbie, Tom Hanks and this is only the tip of the iceberg!) make Wes Anderson’s films incredibly atmospheric and warm, even when something cruel is happening on the screen. For movie lovers, this is one of the biggest events of the year!

Asteroid City is set in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. The film’s official synopsis says: “The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.”

The synopsis is not very clear, but it looks like an interesting experiment awaits us from one of the best directors of our time.

The film will be released on June 22.

6. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (June 29)

15 years after the not-so-successful Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, we will see the final part of the adventure franchise, which is admired by more than one generation of viewers. Indiana Jones is a true symbol of adventure films, the first three parts still in terms of entertainment easily surpass most contemporaries by $200+ million. I hope that our beloved hero will get a decent ending to his own story, and we can only applaud Harrison Ford because not everyone would agree to star in a film full of action at the age of 80.

In 1944, the American archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones helps his colleague Basil Shaw fight the Nazi Jürgen Voller in order to obtain a mysterious artifact. Twenty-five years later, in 1969, Jones is troubled by the fact that the US government has recruited ex-Nazis to help defeat the Soviet Union in the space race. He is angry that his wife Marion is divorcing him and he is about to retire from teaching. His goddaughter, Helena Shaw, daughter of Basil, accompanies him on new adventures. Meanwhile, Voller, a former Nazi now a member of NASA, is involved in the moon landing program and sets out to change the world.

You can go on the last adventure with Indiana Jones from June 29.

7. Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (June 29)

Ruby Gillman is a cute and awkward high school sophomore who is banned from hanging out with the cool kids at the beach because Ruby’s mom is too protective of her and won’t let her go in the water. But when Ruby breaks her mom’s #1 rule, she learns that she is a direct descendant of the Kraken Warrior Queen and destined to inherit the throne from her domineering grandmother. Krakens have sworn to protect the world’s oceans from the power-hungry mermaids who have fought them for centuries. There’s one problem: the new popular girl at school, named Chelsea, turns out to be a mermaid. In the end, Ruby will have to accept who she is and do whatever it takes to protect those she loves the most.

Dreamworks is at it again! The studio had financial problems for a long time, and released quite a few mediocre projects, but in 2022 there was an incredible comeback! The Bad Guys and later the second Puss in Boots showed that the studio can still produce masterpieces. The trailer for the new cartoon, which shows that mermaids are the bad guys (one of them is a direct copy of Disney’s Ariel), and Kraken are good characters, takes us back to the days when the studio made stories with non-standard heroes and broke the patterns (Shrek, Megamind). We expect a similar experience from this cartoon, which was created by the author of The Croods: Family Tree.

The studio’s new project will be released on June 29.

Below is a list of the 7 main novelties of the show segment this June. They are quite diverse, so everyone will be able to choose what to see.

1. Arnold (June 7)

The series follows the life of Arnold Schwarzenegger, from the moment he first lifted a kettlebell to a successful career in Hollywood, his tenure as Governor of California, and various events in his family life.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a legendary personality, he is literally the face of action movies of the 1980s. Arnie is also known for his powerful political career, because he managed to get out of big scandals, which makes it clear how much of an Oak he really is.

You can watch the most interesting moments of Arnold’s biography on Netflix from June 7.

2. Based on a True Story (June 8)

A married realtor and former tennis star struggle to stay afloat while a notorious serial killer terrorizes Los Angeles. The project from the streaming service Peacock from one of the writers of The Boys Craig Rosenberg and Jason Bateman looks interesting. The main role is performed by Kaley Cuoco, known to the audience as Penny from The Big Bang Theory.

The premiere of the series is expected on June 8.

3. The Crowded Room (June 9)

Inspired by a true story and based on the 1981 novel The Mind of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes, the show consists of 10 episodes. It follows Danny Sullivan (Tom Holland) after he is arrested for his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. Danny opens up about his life through a series of interviews with investigator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried) and slowly tells Ria and the audience about his mysterious past that led to this fateful moment.

The series will definitely be touching, intense and emotional. A great cast should only enhance the Crowded Room experience.

The series is released on Apple TV+ on June 9.

4. The Walking Dead: Dead City (June 18)

We are in shock, as The Walking Dead ended almost a year ago. But fans of the series were not sad for long, because a spinoff will soon be released, the central characters of which will be Negan and Maggie Green. They will travel in search of the latter’s son. Negan is a cool character, so if you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, you’ll really appreciate this project.

The spinoff is released on June 18 on the American channel AMC.

5. Secret Invasion (June 21)

Another series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Nick Fury in the central role. He joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos. Together, they race against time to thwart the imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

Previous Marvel series have shown that they are not very important to understanding the overall plot of the films, but the invasion of an entire race of werewolf aliens on Earth should have some consequences. In addition, the character of Nick Fury has not appeared in the plot for a long time, it is interesting what he has been doing all this time. If you are a fan of Marvel and follow every episode of this movie series, this project is definitely for you.

The show premieres June 21 on Disney+.

6. I’m a Virgo (June 22)

The new comedy series tells about a guy named Cootie, he is 4 meters tall and lives in Oakland. One day he decides to leave his parents’ home and goes in search of adventure and meets a superhero with a very original name – The Hero. The idea has good comedic and satirical potential and can entertain the audience well.

The series starts on June 22 on Prime Video.

7. Hijack (June 28)

The show tells the story of a passenger plane that flies a seven-hour flight from Dubai to London but is hijacked by terrorists. A businessman (played by Idris Elba) must use his negotiation skills to stop them. Meanwhile, authorities on the ground are trying to figure out how to save the passengers.

What makes the series unique is that it unfolds in “real time”. So each of the seven episodes features one hour of flight time, including a race against time to stop the terrorists.

Idris Elba will show his negotiation skills in an unusual situation on June 28 on Apple TV+.
