A new app called Walkable, developed and launched by monobank co-founder Mykhailo Rogalsky, is aimed at people who love to walk. It shows users the places they’ve been by coloring buildings yellow on a gray map.

According to the co-founder of monobank, the idea to create the app came to him during the coronavirus pandemic, when walking outdoors was almost the only entertainment. While walking the streets, the developer thought it would be convenient to have an app to track where you've been and where you haven't been.

Currently, Walkable only works on iOS, because, as Mykhailo Rogalsky explained to the video commentators, he made it primarily for himself. The application description states that the service works in the largest European capitals: these are 50 cities, including cities in Britain, Italy, Germany, and Ukraine.

"What cities and countries are supported? In principle, all of them, houses are painted anywhere. But in some cities there are also separate microdistricts. For example, in Kyiv - the historical center, Lower and Upper Podil, Kurenivka, Tatarka. And in this way you can open small parts of the city and see how much you have opened the part that is close to you. The project was created by five people," said the AIT member.

The developer also noted that the project was financed from his own pockets. "This is a non-commercial project for now. It has done well: it is the first in the top among free applications in the Ukrainian App Store. Now we can think about how to turn this into a campaign," said Mykhailo Rogalsky.

In his opinion, Walkable could develop in the direction of interesting historical facts. “But the problem here is how to generate this content and make it really interesting. I haven’t found a solution yet. I have an idea how to develop it from the point of view of user content. So that you can share with your friends interesting places in the city that you love, where there is a beautiful alley or a view, or a place where it is cool to come and watch the sunset. It will be called Hidden Gems or “Hidden Treasures”, or like some artifacts in games,” said the co-founder of monobank.

Reference: Mykhailo Rogalsky was born on March 15, 1986 in Dnipro. He graduated from the Kyiv Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko University. Mykhailo's first job was as the head of the online publication "Gazeta po-kyivski". Then, together with Dmytro Dubilet and Serhiy Danenko, he created the company Fine Web, which was engaged in the development of media projects such as Gloss.ua, Formula 1.ua, Tennis.ua, and also launched the production of photo books under the FineBook brand. In 2010, Mykhailo began his career at PrivatBank, where he held various positions, including head of the payment business, which gave him experience in traditional banking operations and the potential of digital transformation. After the nationalization of PrivatBank in 2016, together with Oleg Horohovskyi and Dmytro Dubilet, he founded the company Fintech Band, which is developing the Ukrainian monobank and the British Koto.

Recall that in 2024, monobank co-founder Dmytro Dubilet announced the launch of a service for digital signature and document exchange — Dubidoc. The service is free, uses Diya.Signature, and is available for use "for both personal and business purposes."
