Humane sells the bulk of its business to HP for $116 million and stops selling AI Pin. HP buys the CosmOS operating system, hires Humane's technical staff, and receives more than 300 patents and patent applications. This was reported by The Verge.

All AI Pins will cease to operate on February 28 when Humane's servers are shut down. As stated in the product support document, this will result in AI Pin functions no longer including calls, messaging, AI requests/responses, or cloud access.

Humane also encourages users to download all photos, videos, and notes stored in the cloud before they are permanently deleted at the time of the outage.

The company also clarified that only customers who purchased the device within the last 90 days will be eligible for a refund. In addition, refunds will be made for unused subscriptions.

Humane reportedly started looking for a buyer almost immediately after the launch of AI Pin. Initially, the company sought to sell its business for $1 billion. However, AI Pin did not gain popularity among users, and over time, Humane began to receive more requests for product returns than new purchases.

The Humane team, led by the startup's founders Imran Chaudhry and Bethany Bongiorno, will create a new division at HP. It will integrate artificial intelligence into personal computers, printers, and conference equipment.

The new team will be called HP IQ, and it will be "new AI innovation lab focused on building an intelligent ecosystem across HP’s products and services for the future of work."
