Apple has introduced the iPhone 16e, its new budget smartphone. This device is the successor to the third-generation iPhone SE.

The iPhone 16e has a larger 6.1-inch OLED display instead of the 4.7-inch LCD in the previous iPhone SE model. The screen has a Face ID notch. This means that Apple no longer sells iPhones with the Touch ID button, ending an era.

The smartphone is powered by the A18 chip, which provides support for Apple Intelligence features. The device is also equipped with Apple's first proprietary 5G modem called C1. Other iPhones use Qualcomm modems. According to Apple, their proprietary modem is so energy efficient that the new product has the longest battery life of any 6.1-inch iPhone model.

The iPhone 16e has a single 48-megapixel camera on the back. It provides 2x optical quality zoom.

Other important features include an Action Button instead of a sound mode switch and a USB-C port instead of Lightning. The device does not have the Camera Control button, which appeared in the rest of the iPhone 16 line last year.

Apple will open preorders for the iPhone 16e on February 21. In the US, the smartphone will start at $599. It will be available in black and white colors and will be offered with 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB of storage. There is no information yet on when the iPhone 16e will be available in Ukraine.
