At one time, the Skoda Enyaq crossover was the first for the Czech company to be built as an electric vehicle, without any connection to any internal combustion engine model. It was also the first to be built on the MEV platform designed specifically for electric vehicles. The result was sales of more than 250 thousand Skoda Enyaq electric vehicles in less than five years. And now it’s time for an update: what’s new for this important pioneer?

A completely new “face” for the bestseller

Here are the subtle changes to the bumper, here is a new curve in the grille, and here we will make the headlights a little narrower. A standard list for an intermediate update, don’t you think? It seems that the designers forgot about it. That’s why they gave the Skoda Enyaq electric car a completely new front end. From now on, everything is made in the latest Modern Solid design style with Tech Deck Face elements.

To put it in simple terms, this is when there is an imitation of a black stripe grille and remarkable 2-story optics in front. By the way, LED headlights are now included in the list of standard equipment of the electric vehicle, and 36-element matrix headlights are offered as an option. As for the radiator grille, the real grille is located below and is installed in a new bumper, which ends with aerodynamic channels on the right/left. Pay attention to the hood, too, or rather, to the absence of the company logo: now there is only the SKODA inscription.

A similar inscription has found its place at the rear – on the trunk lid between the lights, which have not changed in shape, but have received the latest content in the form of 5-section elements. Finally, among other visual changes of the Skoda Enyaq electric vehicle, it is worth noting the appearance of the Olibo Green color and new variants of 19-21-inch wheel disks.

The changes are the same for the Skoda Enyaq electric vehicle and its coupe variant, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe. Moreover, these changes in the appearance and shape of the bumpers added a few millimeters to the overall length – it now reaches 4.66 meters for any body type. Other dimensions remained almost unchanged: width – 1.88 meters; height – 1.62 meters; wheelbase – 2.766 meters.

When aerodynamics is the way to efficiency

By the way, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe variant deserves a special mention. After all, this electric vehicle is distinguished not only by its design but also by its improved aerodynamics. Thus, the most streamlined version of the Skoda Enyaq Coupe demonstrates an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.225, which is a record figure in the current Skoda model lineup. Improved aerodynamics has a direct impact on the increase in the range: the coupe version of the Skoda Enyaq Coupe wins almost 10 km over the regular Skoda Enyaq electric vehicle with the same battery and drive type.

For example, the basic Skoda Enyaq with an index of 60 means rear-wheel drive and one 150 kW or 204 hp electric motor, as well as a 63/59 kWh battery (nominal and used capacity). According to the WLTP cycle measurement procedures, the Skoda Enyaq electric car can travel up to 437 km on a full charge of this battery, while the Skoda Enyaq Coupe version is already capable of traveling up to 446 km. The top speed of the Skoda Enyaq and Skoda Enyaq Coupe reaches 160 km/h, acceleration from 0-100 km/h is 8.1 seconds.

The next option is the Skoda Enyaq 85 or Skoda Enyaq Coupe 85 electric car. According to the index, a larger battery is installed here: we have 82/77 kWh; which has a positive effect on the range – up to 586 or 596 km, depending on the body type. In addition, the 85th version has an electric motor with a capacity of 210 kW or 286 hp; and this has a positive effect on the speed-dynamic performance – a maximum of 180 km/h and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

We can also mention the 85x version with two electric motors: the total power has not changed, as well as the speed and dynamic performance; the range has slightly decreased (549-558 km depending on the body type), but all-wheel drive has been added. In fact, the Skoda Enyaq electric car and its coupe version, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe, had a similar battery and electric motor lineup even before this update. However, what has been improved in terms of technology is the high-speed charging capabilities: now up to 175 kW, depending on the version.

Finally, it is worth noting the simultaneous debut of the Skoda Enyaq and Skoda Enyaq Coupe electric vehicles in Sportline. Traditionally for Skoda, the Sportline designation indicates a more dynamic look with improved equipment: tinted windows, black logo elements, matrix headlights, and 20- or 21-inch wheels. Inside the cabin, you can count on sports seats, with the driver’s seat offering an optional back massage.

By the way, a little bit about the interior…

That’s right: just a few words about the interior, because the list of changes is simply not enough. The most noticeable change is the new central part of the steering wheel with a large SKODA inscription instead of the usual logo. However, the rest remains unchanged: a front panel with a gentle curve under the central ventilation deflectors, a two-story center console, a small 5-inch driver’s display and a large 13-inch center touchscreen display. The interior trim options and steering wheel shape may vary depending on the particular version/equipment, but all of these have been available before.

It seems that the list of driver assistance systems has been expanded and the equipment has been improved. For example, an automatic parking system with parking route memory for a distance of up to 50 meters has been added. And improved equipment means 3-zone climate control and heated steering wheel and front seats in any version of the electric vehicle. And of course, we have to mention practicality. The Skoda Enyaq electric car offers a 585-liter boot, while its coupe version, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe, has a 570-liter boot, both boasting a variety of niches and clips for small items.

Sales of the new Skoda Enyaq and Skoda Enyaq Coupe will begin on January 9 this year. The price of the electric vehicle starts at around 44 thousand euros, depending on the version. We wonder whether the Skoda Enyaq and Skoda Enyaq Coupe will be available in Ukraine and at what price… Stay tuned!
