The iPhone was placed inside a special cage to which the lens is connected. Such cages and adapters are made by Beast, and their products are recognized by their distinctive red handles. The latest DOF (depth of field) adapter allows you to attach full-frame DSLR lenses to smartphones. The lens-shaped adapter projects the image from the DSLR lens onto the smartphone screen, and the smartphone records this projection.

By the way, several art-house films have been made with the iPhone, including Sean Baker’s Tangerine and Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane, but these films were low-budget and limited release, unlike 28 Years Later. The budget of the new movie was $75 million.
