Samsung may introduce its Meta Ray-Ban-like smart XR glasses as early as January 2025, along with the Galaxy S25 series of smartphones. This is reported by the Korean edition of Yonhap News.
During the presentation, a prototype of augmented reality glasses will be shown, which will look like any other pair of ordinary sunglasses and weigh about 50 grams. Samsung is reportedly working with Google and Qualcomm on this prototype.
The new glasses will feature gesture recognition, face recognition, and integration with Google Gemini. The glasses are also likely to run on a special version of Android and support contactless payment.
In addition, Samsung plans to launch a separate platform for augmented reality in December 2024. This platform will enable developers to create their own apps and software for glasses.
The Korean publication also reports that the new glasses will not go on sale immediately after Unpacked. Instead, Samsung will present only their concept or possibly a finished prototype. The final product will only go on sale in the third quarter of 2025.
