In 2020, it became known that James Bond would definitely get a new game adaptation from IO Interactive, but there were few details about the project. Now, Hakan Abrak, the head of the studio, has finally broken the silence and told us a little about the upcoming project and the desire to make a trilogy.

In an interview with IGN, Abraham said that in his game, still known as Project 007, IO Interactive will show how a young James Bond is just starting his journey as a secret agent. The studio will be fully responsible for the creation, financing, and publishing of the project.

Abrak noted that the developers hope that James Bond will get a full trilogy and that “a lot of interesting things are waiting for players.” He also said that the developers are excited about the opportunity to tell their own 007 story.

“But what’s exciting about that project is that we actually got to do an original story. So it’s not a gamification of a movie. It’s completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future. And equally important and exciting, it’s a new Bond. It’s a Bond we built from ground up for gamers. It’s extremely exciting with all the tradition and all the history there is there together to work on this together with the family of creating a young Bond for gamers; a Bond that the gamers can call their own and grow with,” Abrak said.

So far, Abrak has not gone into details, but he noted that he is already looking forward to telling more about the project. “The production is going amazingly well and we will have more details to share soon,” said the head of the studio.

“I don’t want to speak too big about it, but I just hope we’ll do a thing that will define James Bond in gaming for years to come. And that is not only one game, but that we create a universe for gamers to own for many years to come that we can grow with that next to the Bond on the movies,” Abrak said.

The 007 franchise is currently on hiatus. The last movie in the series, No Time To Die, was released in 2021 and marked the end of Daniel Craig’s role as the secret agent. At the beginning of 2024, it was reported that James Bond might reappear on screens with Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role, but there has been no official confirmation.
