Epic will start distributing free games for smartphones. This was announced by Epic Games Store CEO Steve Ellison during Unreal Fest, mobilegamer.biz reports.

Until now, the mobile version of the Epic Games Store has focused mainly on the brand’s core products, such as Fortnite and Fall Guys. But Epic plans to add up to 50 new games from third-party developers and launch a free-to-play program similar to the one on the PC version.

But this will not happen so soon. Games from third-party developers and giveaways will appear in the fourth quarter of 2025. Steve Ellison hinted that one of the games that will appear in EGS will be Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition.

Epic Games will offer developers “self-publishing tools”. This will allow them to release their games “without any interaction with us, as is the case today on the PC,” says Steve Ellison.

The Epic Games Store is available worldwide on Android devices and for iOS users in the European Union.

By the way, it has recently become known that Epic reduces royalties for Unreal Engine games if they are released in the Epic Games Store.
