Adrian Newey, one of the most successful designers in Formula 1 history, will officially join the Aston Martin team. He will begin his duties as a managing technical partner on March 1, 2025, and will design the car for 2026 according to the new FIA rules, including changes to engines. This is stated on the official Formula 1 website.

After the official announcement that Adrian Newey would be leaving Red Bull Racing in May, rumors began to circulate online about his possible next home. Ferrari and Williams were among the potential candidates, but Aston Martin won the race.

The team says that Adrian Newey chose Aston Marting in part because of a private tour of the state-of-the-art factory in June, which “proved to be a decisive factor in the decision-making process.” In addition, according to the Independent, Newey will receive £20 million a year.

Newey will have access to Aston Martin’s brand-new factory, which includes a new wind tunnel and simulator, among other things. His main task will be to design the Forumla 1 car for 2026, which will need to integrate a new powertrain from Honda, replacing the Mercedes-Benz engine.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. I have been hugely inspired and impressed by the passion and commitment that Lawrence brings to everything he is involved with. Lawrence is determined to create a world-beating team. He is the only majority team owner who is actively engaged in the sport,” said Newey.

Newey’s cars have won 12 drivers’ championships and 13 Formula 1 constructors’ cups in his career. In addition to Red Bull, Adrian Newey has also worked with such teams as Williams and McLaren in the past.

We remind you that in July 2024, the long-awaited RB17 hypercar from Red Bull, developed by Adrian Newey, was unveiled.
