The official profile of Hopoo Games studio in X announced that the team, almost all of it, is moving under the wing of Valve, where they will continue to work on the company’s games.

At the same time, the announcement also says that Hopoo Games is stopping the development of its unannounced game codenamed Snail. Nevertheless, it is not yet clear what exactly the developers will do in the new location.

There are two potential options: it could either be a completely new development department that will work on new projects for Valve. Another possible option is that Hopoo Games will work on Deadlock, which, although available only by invitation, is already showing great results.

However, this is all just speculation for now, and the developers only say that they love making games and will continue to do so for many years to come, but now they will be doing it side by side with the Valve team.

Hopoo Games is mostly known for creating Risk of Rain, an action platformer with roguelike elements. However, in 2022, the studio sold the rights to the franchise to Gearbox, starting work on the now-frozen project.
