Prices for some Canva subscriptions are going up dramatically in the near future. The subscription for business customers of Canva Teams will increase in price by more than 300%. The company claims that this is justified by new generative artificial intelligence tools. This was reported by The Verge.

Some Canva Teams users in the U.S. are reporting an increase in subscription costs from $120/year for five users to $500/year. For the first 12 months, there will be a 40% discount to bring it down to $300.

Over the past few years, Canva has released a number of AI-powered generative features, such as the Magic Media text-to-picture generator and the Magic Expand background expansion tool.

Such high prices are a sharp turnaround for Canva, which was once considered a simple and affordable alternative to Adobe’s expensive software. This significant price increase is also due to the fact that Canva acquired Affinity.

Users are massively criticizing the company for the drastic changes and report that they are switching to Adobe products.
