Recently, it was reported that the controversial Recall feature, which screenshots all user activity on a PC, could be removed. However, as Microsoft told The Verge, it was actually a bug in the system.

“We are aware of an issue where Recall is incorrectly listed as an option under the ‘Turn Windows features on or off’ dialog in Control Panel. This will be fixed in an upcoming update,” says Windows senior product manager Brandon LeBlanc.

Security experts have called Recall a privacy disaster. The essence of the new Windows 11 feature is that it takes screenshots of all user activity, from chat messages to visited sites and recently opened files.

Despite the controversy of the new feature, Microsoft plans to start new testing among users in October 2024.
