GTP Media has announced the winners of the Indie Cup Europe’24 competition. Among the winners is the Ukrainian game Hollow Home, which won two categories at Indie Cup Ukraine’23.

The Gameplay Excellence Award for the best overall experience went to The Darkest Files, a detective game dedicated to the investigation of Nazi crimes during World War II. The game is set in West Germany in 1956, and many people are reluctant to bring old dirty secrets to light.

The Rising Star Award, for the best game created by a small team without a publisher, went to Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall, a continuation of the gloomy medieval strategy game Yes, Your Grace, where you have to make very difficult decisions.

The Critics’ Choice Award for the best game according to media representatives went to the paper advent game Phonopolis by the legendary Czech studio Amanita Design. The same game also received the Artistic Excellence Award for the best audio and visual design.

In the Creators’ Choice Award category, where YouTube and Twitch bloggers voted, the creative music game ODDADA won, which, by the way, has already been released on Steam.

The Most Experimental Game Award, for a game that pushes the boundaries of game design, went to Tarnished Blood, a project in which you can rewind time to create the perfect attack.

The Next Big Thing Award for an early-stage game was given to the Ukrainian game Hollow Home based on the tragedy of the siege of Mariupol. We recently published an extensive interview with Valeriy Minenko, the founder of Twigames, the studio that created this game.

Finally, the special WINGS Award from WINGS, a company that invests in indie games created by teams in which women and marginalized gender developers hold key positions, goes to Two Falls / Nishu Takuatshina, which tells the story of one of the so-called “King’s Daughters” (wives for French colonists in the 17th century America) and an Innu Indian. The game is set in the province of Quebec.

It’s interesting that the author, who was also a member of the Indie Cup Europe’24 jury, paid attention to and voted for these games that won the competition. These are indeed very high quality indie projects that should be added to the Wish List and whose development is worth following.
