Warner Bros. Discovery is ready to license its franchises to third-party game studios. This was announced by the company’s CEO David Zaslav during the announcement of financial statements, IGN reports.

“We have 11 studios here, and we have a lot of IP. And there’s also a lot of interest among others in coming to take advantage of some of that IP for gaming, which we’re looking at. Because as JB said, we need to get bigger, and the IP that we own and the value that it has in the gaming space is something we’re looking to take advantage of,” Zaslav says.

J.B. Perrett, President of Global Streaming and Gaming, noted that despite a 41% drop in revenue from the gaming business compared to last year, the company still wants to develop it, especially in the area of free-to-play games.

The list of intellectual property owned by Warner Bros. that it can license includes Harry Potter, DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, and maybe even someone will want to make a game based on Game of Thrones.

The day before, it was reported that Warner Bros. plans to sell its gaming business in whole or in part. In the new statements, executives said, among other things, that they plan to continue developing the 11 studios they own. However, licensing franchises to third-party developers may also mean that not all of its own studios will be needed in the future.
