The next time you open Google Play, the store may ask for your approximate location. This is part of a new update to the store that aims to improve app recommendations.
Google says that the approximate location will be used to offer users local programs that may be useful, such as transportation apps, local store rewards programs, etc.
In addition, the company notes that in some regions, approximate location data may be required to ensure compliance with local regulations regarding content and its distribution.
Users who start receiving this update will have three options to choose from: “When the app is in use,” “This time only,” and “Do not provide.” Later, these settings can also be changed in the settings.
Earlier, Google announced a major update for Google Play, which aims to turn the store into something more. Among other things, the company introduced updated Collections, AI-powered search, and improved the Play Points program.
