AMD has announced the prices of the new Ryzen 9000 series of processors and they are cheaper than the previous generation Ryzen 7000. Despite a 16% increase in power, even the flagship 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X costs $649, which is $50 less than the Ryzen 9 7950X. This was reported by The Verge.
On August 8, 2024, the Ryzen 7 9700X for $359 and the Ryzen 5 9600X for $279 will go on sale. A little later, on August 15, the Ryzen 9 9950X for $649 and Ryzen 9 9900X for $499 will go on sale. All processors are cheaper than their Ryzen 7000 series equivalents by $20 to $50.
The official prices of Ryzen 9000 processors are slightly higher than previously reported, but the prices are still close to what was accidentally published by the US sites Best Buy and Newegg on July 31, when the processors were originally supposed to be released.
As a reminder, the release of the processors was postponed because during the final checks, AMD found that the initial production units that were shipped to trading partners did not meet quality expectations. In addition, photos with a misspelled name on the processors were also posted online.
