On July 31, the brand new Ryzen 9000 desktop chips based on Zen 5 architecture were supposed to officially go on sale. However, only a week before the expected event, AMD suddenly postponed the CPU delivery dates without providing any details about the reason for this decision. The developers limited themselves to general explanations about the need for additional testing of the first batches of chips already delivered and to provide potential buyers with the best user experience, of course.

One of the possible reasons for the delay in the Ryzen 9000 presentation could be a simple mistake in model labeling. Photos with the Ryzen 9 9700X label appear on the web, although the correct name of the model is Ryzen 7 9700X.

It seems that these are not isolated cases, so AMD even had to postpone the official launch of sales to identify possible inconsistencies. However, the company’s representatives do not comment on speculations about the reasons for the delay.

Ryzen 9000 specs

We hope that the unfortunate typo is the only reason for the postponement of the official launch. As a reminder, according to the new launch plans for the new line of chips, Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X will be available on August 8, while Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X will be available on August 15. Perhaps as some kind of moral compensation for the delay, AMD has agreed to shorten the NDA deadlines for the publication of detailed reviews of the new CPUs by a day, which will appear on August 7 and 14, respectively.

Despite the inevitable approach of the sales stratum, AMD still hasn’t announced the recommended price tags for Ryzen 9000 processors. Are we waiting for pleasant surprises?
