In April-June 2024, Nintendo almost halved sales of the Switch console compared to the same period in 2023. This is stated in the company’s report.

In the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, which began in April, Nintendo sold only 2.1 million units of the console. A year earlier, this figure was 3.91 million units.

In total, Nintendo plans to sell 13.5 million Switch units this fiscal year, which will end in March 2025. At the end of the last fiscal year, the company sold 15.7 million units of the console.

Nintendo also announced that its operating profit in the first quarter decreased by 70.6% to 54.5 billion yen ($365 million). In the same period last year, the company received 185.4 billion yen in operating profit.

It is noteworthy that Nintendo expects to generate an operating profit of 400 billion yen this fiscal year. This is in line with the company’s earlier forecasts.

By the way, in May this year, Nintendo announced that it would announce the successor to the Switch game console during this fiscal year, which ends in March 2025.
