Meta is introducing more restrictions on Facebook and Instagram to protect teens from unwanted contacts. To do this, the company is introducing stricter settings for private messages.

People aged 19 and older will not be able to send messages to teenagers who are not subscribed to them. In addition, users will now be able to send only 1 message to people who are not subscribed to them.

The company is also taking an additional step to help protect teens from unwanted contact by disabling the ability to receive private messages from anyone they are not signed up for, including other teens, by default.

With these new restrictions, teens will only be able to send messages or add people to group chats who they follow. These settings will be enabled by default on Instagram and Messenger for all users under the age of 16.

Also, some users whose accounts have parental controls enabled will not be able to change these settings on their own. To do so, they will need confirmation from their parents.
