Google has released its first major update of 2024 for Pixel smartphones, introducing a number of new health features and the Google Circle to Search option, reports Engadget.

Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones get new color, features and body thermometer

The main feature of this update is finally the full activation of the thermometer, which has been available in Pixel 8 Pro since its announcement, but it could not be used to measure body temperature. Users can now use the smartphone’s temperature sensor to check their temperature, which can be saved to Fitbit’s health and fitness tracking app.

In addition to the thermometer, the update brought several AI-based tools.

One of these tools is Google’s Circle to Search feature, announced with the new Galaxy S24 flagships, which allows you to search for information by outlining text and images on the smartphone screen.

The update also adds Photomoji, which turns your favorite photos into emojis or reactions, and Magic Compose, which is similar to the Magic Editor tool but for working with text. Magic Compose generates stylized, context-sensitive responses to messages.

Another feature is the Quick Share icon, which displays a list of nearby devices with which you can share content. Google is working on extending this feature to Windows computers.
