In 2022, Apple added the iPhone 14 Plus to its smartphone lineup, and a year later, a 15-inch version of the laptop appeared in the MacBook Air lineup. Something similar is expected in the manufacturer’s mid-budget tablet section – the iPad Air with a diagonal of 12.9 inches (a simpler analog of the largest iPad Pro).

Images with the potential design of the new model were shared by 91mobiles.

Mentions of a larger iPad Air appeared in October last year. Currently, only the iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch version, but work on a similar iPad Air is not excluded. According to the publication, the renders are exclusively provided by “industry sources.”

They show a traditionally thin tablet in a generally similar shape to the current iPad Air. The location and number of keys are also the same, as are the four speakers (two on the left and two on the right in landscape orientation).

What is slightly different is the camera protrusion. In the current model, only the camera window protrudes on the back. But in the rendering, this protrusion goes down and captures another notch, a small cutout for the microphone.

Predictably, the larger iPad Air will also have a Touch ID fingerprint scanner built into the power button. For charging and connecting other devices, the USB-C port will, of course, be used. And for branded accessories, there is a standard connector on the back.

To recap, last year was the first year in which none of Apple’s tablet models received any updates. So this year, we should most likely expect something interesting.
