MSI has entered the portable gaming console market with the Windows-based Claw model announced at CES 2024. The Claw is powered by the recently announced Intel Meteor Lake Core Ultra processor and offers models ranging from $699 to $799. The base version includes a Core Ultra 5 processor and 512 GB of memory.
The Claw features a new Intel processor that supports XeSS scaling technology, and MSI claims that the console can run AAA games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage without any problems.
The device is also equipped with a 53 Wh battery, which, according to the manufacturer, is the largest in its class and provides two hours of battery life under full load. Claw weighs 675 g and measures 294x117x21.2 mm. It is equipped with tactile buttons, Hall sensor triggers, and joysticks.
The device has a 7-inch IPS display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, 1080p resolution and 500 nits of brightness. Other features include 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of PCIe M.2 storage, a microSD slot, a Thunderbolt 4 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a power button equipped with a fingerprint sensor.
The device also features macro buttons and RGB lighting around the thumbs. It runs Windows 11 with MSI Center M software, which offers quick access to games and game libraries, and can also run Android games via the App Player app.
