Apple is still working on iPhone 16 prototypes, and meanwhile, rumors about the iPhone 17 line are already emerging. Thus, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared some information regarding the front cameras of Apple smartphones that will be released next year.

He wrote about this in his blog, and drew attention to the post by 9to5Mac.

Mr. Kuo says that Genius, a supplier of front-facing cameras for Apple smartphones, expects to increase revenues from sales of such modules for the iPhone 17. Their resolution will be 24 MP, while current and this year’s models use 12-megapixel sensors.

Moreover, the new cameras will consist of six lenses, not five as it is now. And such modules will cost more than twice as much.

Mr. Kuo also spoke about the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras in the iPhone 16. The former will increase the resolution from 12 to 48 megapixels and process the image in the same way as the main wide-angle camera does now, creating 12- and 24-megapixel photos.

Genius also supplies periscopic cameras, which both the “older” iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models will receive this year. These will be 12-megapixel modules with a 5x zoom capability.

Genius also supplies lenses for Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headsets, which will be launched in February or March this year.
