Call of Duty 2025, known by its working title Saturn, will be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2 and will return players to the near future. This was reported Insider Gaming.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 took place in 2025, while the new game will take players to 2030. We can expect the return of the protagonist David Mason and the rest of the team.

The multiplayer will feature maps from the original Black Ops 2, but due to the poor reception of Modern Warfare III, the developers decided to change their approach and still add more new maps at the release.

Despite the fact that the game is expected to be released in the fall of 2025, some details of what players can expect have already emerged:

  • a new transportation system;
  • returning the ability to choose 10 items of equipment
  • shootout mode
  • zombie mode with rounds.

As for the developers, Treyarch is currently developing Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War, and Infinity Ward is working on Modern Warfare, so Sledgehammer Games is likely to create CoD 2025.

The return to the setting with a near future is expected and logical, given the fact that Black Ops 2, released in 2012, is one of the most successful in the series and has sold 30 million copies.
