Apple is working on a film adaptation of Martha Wells’ Hugo Award-winning science fiction book The Murderbot Diaries.

“Murderbot” is an action-packed sci-fi series, based on the award-winning books by Wells, about a self-hacking security android who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable “clients.” Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe,” reads the official announcement.

Emmy Award winner Alexander Skarsgård will star in the series. In addition, Alexander will executive produce the show alongside Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy), who are also directing and writing.

By the way, this year, Georges Publishing House released the first two books in the series, Diaries of an Assassin. Book 1: All Systems Are Dangerous” and “Book 2. Artificial State”, in Ukrainian.
