The year 2023 went unnoticed by those users who were expecting new Apple tablets, as this year’s branded presentations did not touch any of the iPad lines. However, the company is preparing several significant updates for the next year.

This was reported by sources of Mark Gurman (Bloomberg).

Thus, Apple plans to release the updated iPad Air in two sizes. The new larger model will equalize the display diagonal with the largest iPad Pro and will reach 12.9 inches. Meanwhile, the standard option will have the usual 10.9-inch screen.

In turn, the iPad Pro should receive new displays with OLED matrices that will replace the current IPS (Liquid Retina and Liquid Retina XDR). Also, with the update, we can expect new M3 series chips, which recently appeared with new Macs.

In both cases, the company will offer customers options with Wi-Fi only or with an additional cellular module.

The tablets will also receive updated Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard accessories. The new keyboards will look more like laptop versions and have stronger aluminum bases. It is not specified how the company is finalizing the third generation of the Apple Pencil.

Along with tablets, Apple is also preparing updated MacBook Airs. Ultrabooks will remain in 13- and 15-inch formats, where the main improvement will be M3 processors.

The new iPad and MacBook Air lines can be expected in March 2024. They should slightly increase the demand for the company’s tablets and computers, which continues to decline (last quarter, Mac sales fell by 34%, and iPad lost 10%; in total, computers and tablets account for 15% of the company’s revenue).

Currently, Apple does not comment on further plans for future products.
