NVIDIA is working closely with the U.S. government to ensure that its new chips for the Chinese market comply with export restrictions. This was stated by the company’s CEO Jensen Huang at a press conference in Singapore, writes Reuters.

As you know, new restrictions have recently been imposed on the supply of NVIDIA A800 and H800 chips, which were designed for the Chinese market. Later, Reuters reported, citing sources, that NVIDIA postpones until 2024 the release of a new AI chip aimed at China. The company may release the chip in February or March. This could complicate NVIDIA’s efforts to maintain market share in China.

“NVIDIA has been working very closely with the U.S. government to build products that comply with its regulations,” he said. “Our plan now is to continue to work with the government to build a new set of products that comply with the new rules, which have some restrictions.

Separately, the CEO of the American company said that NVIDIA is in talks with Singapore about potential major investments and is cooperating with the city-state to help develop its own large-scale Sealion language model.

Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has announced a $52 million initiative to develop Southeast Asia’s first major broadcast model.
