CD Projekt has announced sales figures for the expansion pack Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Since the release, DLC has been purchased by 4.3 million users, but it seems that the amount of money raised for the game will not cover the development costs.

As previously reported, CD Projekt spent more than $125 million on DLC and game updates and the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty could be a financial disaster for the company. It seems that yes, CD Projekt will not make money on this DLC.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in the US and developed economies is about $30. But in many countries, the price was much lower, and in Ukraine it was one of the lowest in the world – 549 UAH or about $15. Let’s take the average price in the world as $25. The platform takes a third, okay, let’s say 20% in case of large sales, of this amount. So the approximate revenue per copy is $20. Multiply it by 4.3 million copies and we get $86 million, not the $125 million spent on add-ons.

By the way, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was bought by only 20% of players who have the original game. This is within the average figures of player interest in DLC, but at the very low end. It is believed that the Attachment Ratio for the first DLC is between 20 and 45% of the number of buyers of the original game, with an average of 35%. With each subsequent expansion, player engagement drops by 20-30%.
