As the announcement of Ryzen 8000G hybrid chips for the Socket AM5 desktop platform approaches, more and more leaks about the upcoming series of AMD APUs are coming. This time, the Persian trading platform Sakhtafzarmag became the source of preliminary information with technical specifications.

The future APUs will be based on Zen 4/Zen 4c architectures for computing cores and RDNA3 for integrated graphics. The new family will be supported by AM5 motherboards with updated BIOS versions.

AMD Ryzen 8000G: preliminary lineup and graphics performance

The line of hybrid processors will initially include 14 models, including classic versions and PRO variants for enterprise solutions with identical characteristics but extended support. Based on the Phoenix chip, the flagship model, the Ryzen 7 8700G, will have an 8/16 functional configuration with a 4.2/5.1 GHz frequency formula and Radeon 780M graphics with 12 compute units (CUs). The Ryzen 5 8600G will have a 6-core configuration with 4.35/5.0 GHz operating frequencies and a Ryzen 760M graphics core (8CU).

Younger chip models will already use the Phoenix 2 crystal, which combines computing cores with the Zen 4 architecture and the smaller Zen 4c. This formation will be used for Ryzen 5 8500G (2+4/12) and Ryzen 3 8300G (1+3/8). Both chips will be equipped with Ryzen 740M graphics with 4CUs.

All of the proposed APUs will have a TDP of 65 W with the possibility of configuring up to 45 W. At the same time, AMD is preparing to initially offer more economical versions of the processors with the GE index, which will receive a 35W thermal package. These versions will have slightly lower operating frequencies and obviously lower supply voltage.

Ryzen 8000G games performance

In addition to specification updates, Sakhtafzarmag has provided the first results of integrated graphics benchmarks. The comparison diagrams show the relative performance of Ryzen 7 5700G (Cezanne) and Ryzen 7 8700G (Phoenix) with integrated Radeon Vega 8 (8 CU, 512 SP, Vega) and Radeon 780M (12CU, 768 SP, RDNA3) graphics, respectively. According to preliminary data, the new product may have a 50-300% advantage in games. The new architecture, higher number of computing units, and higher iGPU operating frequency, as well as the use of DDR5 memory, should bring very good integrated results. For current-generation desktop APUs, the graphics used were frankly not the most modern, although they looked decent within their class. The update should significantly improve the graphics capabilities of AMD desktop processors.

Ryzen 8000G benchmarks performance

The available chart with the strength ratios of Ryzen 7 5700G and Ryzen 7 8700G in various graphics benchmarks also shows an average twofold advantage of the new chips. Well, such news is inspiring. The Ryzen 8000G chips will be an attractive option for conditions where you can do without discrete graphics.

As for the timing of the announcement, Gigabyte recently announced a BIOS update to support Ryzen 8000G and made it public, assuring that the new AMD APUs will be available by the end of January next year.
