The long-suffering remake of the legendary Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was supposed to be released in early 2021, is still alive and well, and is even slowly moving towards release. The X/Twitter developers reminded about this on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the original.

As you know, the passionate team at Ubisoft Montreal is reimagining this legendary story, and we are glad to announce today that the project has passed an important internal milestone and development is progressing. We look forward to sharing more in the future!” the statement reads.

As a reminder, the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was announced in 2020, was originally developed by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, but what players and media saw in the first trailers caused such a negative reaction that Ubisoft postponed the release and eventually took the project away from Indian studios. Гру передали авторам оригінальної Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Ubisoft Montreal, і перенесли на 2022–2023 фінансовий рік, а потім ще далі.

A new release date has not yet been announced, but as the message makes clear, the work is gradually progressing, although, judging by the pace, development began from the very beginning. There is no new material on the game yet, so you can watch the same infamous 2020 trailer.
