Do you remember such a baby as the Renault Twingo? It was a compact A-class car that appeared at the very beginning of the 1990s. The publications Autocar and Carscoops say that now they plan to revive it – but in the form of an electric car: it will be called Renault Twingo EV.

The exact parameters are unknown, as the Renault Twingo electric car is currently presented only as a concept. However, the design is already known – and the new Renault Twingo EV will follow the style of the original Renault Twingo: a single-volume body, a short sloping hood with triple protrusions, rounded headlights and lights. But all this is made taking into account 30 years of technology development – for example, the headlights will be LED, and the protrusions on the hood (the original Renault Twingo had an air intake there) will hide battery charge indicators.

Another difference between the Renault Twingo EV and the original model is the use of a 5-door body instead of a 3-door body. Take a closer look at the rear and you’ll notice a door slit with the handles carefully hidden.

The new Renault Twingo electric vehicle is expected to be built on the CMF-BEV platform, which will be shared by Renault 5 and several other compact electric models. The cost of the new Renault Twingo EV is expected to be around 20 thousand euros, and the energy consumption is claimed to be 10 kWh per 100 km, which will allow it to achieve a fairly long range even with a relatively small (and inexpensive) battery.

However, we still have to wait for the production Renault Twingo EV: it will be presented closer to 2026 – then we will learn more details and characteristics of the new electric vehicle.
