EVE Online has received the Havoc expansion pack. Do you like the pirate’s fate?

CCP has offered another major update for EVE Online. With the release of Havoc, for the first time in the 20-year history of the space MMORPG, players can join pirate groups and upset the balance of power in New Eden.

Angel Cartel and Guristas have settled in the newly discovered Zarzakh system. Seeking to disrupt the eternal power struggle between the empires of New Eden, both factions are actively recruiting pilots with an endless thirst for wealth and glory. Players will have to make a choice: whose side is their loyalty on? Will they defend their empire and suppress the pirate uprising, or wreak havoc and fight for personal gain in the war zone?

The task of the interventionist pilots is to destabilize the systems, while the task of the militia capsuleers is to prevent this by all means. Reward points will be awarded for both.

Players who join the pirates will have access to new ships: the Azariel titan and Khizriel battleship from Angel Cartel, the Alligator battleship from the Guristas organization, and the Mekubal and Mamba destroyers. Copies of the drawings of all these ships can be purchased in the respective reward departments of the pirate interventionists.

Pirate activities will have a significant impact on the current factional wars, and may also affect the carefree pharmacy of “green”, mining and anomaly scanning even in remote areas of space. Obviously, the Havoc expansion may become the biggest “irritant” to the peaceful way of life in New Eden.

In addition to space battles, the developers plan to bring the confrontation to the surface. The Havoc expansion will also include a EVE Vanguard module that will add a dynamic first-person shooter to the game. Although this is not the first attempt, it seems that this time the developers’ long-standing plan will finally be realized. EVE Vanguard was already demonstrated at EVE Fanfest 2023 in September.

The module uses Unreal Engine 5 and looks quite interesting, although external art and engine technology are not enough for the success of the shooter part. CCP promises that the network component of the game will be launched in December.

As for the current features of EVE Online: Havoc, the new expansion also focuses on managing corporations by adding more projects and automating management routines. There are some improvements to the training mode with the ability to interrupt the chain of initial familiarization and continue it at the right time. The system with daily tasks and a reward system will also be updated in December.

The addition also includes certain changes to the settings menu that expand the possibilities of customizing the interface. Here you can add the expected option to create custom color schemes.

To attract potential capsuleers, the developers are offering a free 7-day omega status to celebrate the release of the major update, which allows you to use all the features of the game and doubles the speed of skill development. The bonus is available in the in-game store until February 20. It is a good opportunity for newcomers to understand whether this is their game, as EVE Online is a rather specific multifaceted project that takes some time to master.
