The UK plans to launch an artificial intelligence chatbot to help citizens pay taxes and receive pensions. This was stated by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, writes The Telegraph.
The experimental service will be called Gov.uk Chat. The technology for it is provided by OpenAI, the company behind the popular ChatGPT bot. The chatbot is currently in the early testing phase. If they prove successful, the project may be presented to the public.
The chatbot will be trained on the gov.uk website, which contains information ranging from taxes to housing and immigration. It will not be trained on citizens’ personal data, and users will be encouraged not to enter private information.
The news came on the eve of the AI security summit in the UK. This event was announced by Rishi Sunak back in the summer. At the same time, it became known that the summit was going to consider the risks associated with artificial intelligence.
As a reminder, OpenAI has announced the creation of a new team that will study artificial intelligence models to protect against what it calls “catastrophic risks.” The team is called Preparedness, and its main responsibilities will be to track, predict, and protect against the dangers of future AI systems.
