Over the weekend, rumors began to circulate online about a new vulnerability in the Signal messenger that allows attackers to gain full access to the device. The company claims that it has not been able to find confirmation of these complaints, writes Bleeping Computer.

Reportedly, through the function of creating a link preview in the messenger, attackers could gain full access to the user’s device.

Information about the vulnerability was spread with reference to the United States government, but Signal was told that after talking to people from the government, they did not receive any confirmation that the vulnerability exists.

The company will continue to investigate this issue, and although it has not been possible to confirm the veracity and existence of this problem, the developers ask users to report to [email protected] if they have new details or information.

If you want to be on the safe side, in case a vulnerability does exist, we recommend disabling the link preview function until the investigation is over.
