Europe’s largest smartphone manufacturer, the Finnish company HMD Global (the successor to Microsoft Mobile, which bought Nokia in 2014), has started production in Europe. The first device, the Nokia XR21, is already available for purchase by corporate clients.
“We are thrilled to be manufacturing the Nokia XR21, our signature rugged 5G smartphone, in Europe. We are dedicated to investing in security, technology and manufacturing processes that make our devices more secure and longer lasting,” said Jean-Francois Baril, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of HMD Global.
Each device undergoes rigorous software and malware testing in Europe, with some enterprise customers requiring additional protection in collaboration with a number of IT security partners.
Data is securely stored in the EU – the company’s emphasis on software security and privacy is integrated by default. Consumer and corporate data from all smartphones manufactured by HMD has been stored and processed on HMD’s servers in Finland since 2019.
In addition to its high level of security, the XR21 is also durable. Thanks to the military grade IP69K ruggedness and protection certificate, this smartphone is protected from dust, heat, shock and water. The body of the device is made of 100% recycled aluminum, and the two-day battery life provides 60% more charges over its lifetime.
The Nokia website will offer a limited edition of 30 Nokia XR21 smartphones manufactured on the European production line. The limited edition of Made in Europe devices has an exclusive Frosted Platinum color, a unique serial number engraved on them, and a certificate of origin is included in the box.
Now Nokia XR21 Limited Edition in an exclusive matte platinum color is available in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Finland for 699 euros. You can buy the smartphone on the official Nokia website.
The new Nokia XR21 in black color will also soon be available at a price starting from 649 euros.
