OpenAI is in talks with investors about a possible sale of shares, which could result in an estimated value of $80-90 billion, writes Bloomberg citing The Wall Street Journal.

This valuation will mean a threefold increase compared to the figure at the beginning of this year. At the same time, a valuation of at least $80 billion will make OpenAI one of the most highly valued startups in the world.

As part of the deal, OpenAI employees will be able to sell their existing shares instead of the company issuing new ones to raise additional capital.

Microsoft has invested $13 billion in OpenAI. Since the debut of ChatGPT last fall, OpenAI has been working with companies ranging from young firms to large corporations to integrate the technology into their businesses and products.

Earlier it was reported that ChatGPT has received a major update. It was taught to understand voice commands, respond with a synthesized voice, and recognize images.
