Toyota has unveiled a car that could become a cult vehicle as soon as it is released. This is the Toyota GR86 40th Anniversary Limited Edition coupe, created in honor of the AE86 cars – small “sports cars for the people” from the 1980s.

As is often the case in such cases, the Toyota GR86 40th Anniversary Limited Edition is built on the basis of the maximum equipment plus a few special details. For example, themed stickers on the doors, black décor, and a large rear spoiler. The cars will be offered in only two colors: red or white.

But there are some technical changes as well. The Toyota GR86 40th Anniversary Limited Edition coupe will receive Brembo brakes and special shock absorbers that should improve the sports coupe’s behavior on the road. Later, these components will be available on regular Toyota GR86 modifications for the 2024 model year, but the debut of such technical improvements took place on the 40th Anniversary Limited Edition. The engine remains standard – a gasoline 2.4-liter 4-cylinder “opposition” with 235 “horses”, which can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic transmission and a classic rear-wheel drive.

A total of 200 copies of the Toyota GR86 40th Anniversary Limited Edition will be produced, which will be offered exclusively on the Japanese market. In case of a larger number of willing buyers (and it will probably happen), the opportunity to purchase the car will be raffled off in a lottery. What can I say… One can only envy the Japanese in their attitude to their own automotive culture combined with the desire for entertainment.
