Bethesda has released an update for its space game Starfield, which focuses on improving the game’s stability, reports Engadget. The update, version 1.7.29, addresses specific glitches on Xbox X/S series and improves overall game performance by reducing crashes and increasing frame rates. The update also resolves issues that prevented the completion of three quests: All That Money Can Buy, Into the Unknown, and Shadows in Neon. However, it is not yet known whether the update fixes the weapon bug, which could be fixed by changing the gender in the game.

While the upcoming update is aimed at ensuring stability, Bethesda also hinted at several upcoming features. One of the most anticipated additions is the built-in support for Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), a technology that can significantly improve resolution and stability for players using NVIDIA graphics cards. While some community mods offer unofficial DLSS support, official integration is still in the works.

Bethesda is also working on several other improvements, including brightness and contrast controls, an HDR calibration menu, and a field of view (FOV) slider. The company is also planning to introduce support for ultra-wide monitors with an aspect ratio of 32:9. In addition, a “food button” for in-game food consumption and improved maps may be added. Bethesda even plans to introduce built-in support for cross-platform mods by early 2024. The company emphasized its cooperation with NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel to optimize driver support for Starfield. This attention to hardware compatibility comes after a Digital Foundry technical report criticized the game for its poor performance on NVIDIA and Intel platforms. Bethesda assures that future updates will continue to improve the stability of the game for different hardware configurations.
