The ScanWatch 2, a watch in two sizes, 38 and 42 mm, priced at $349.95, is the company’s most advanced offering, featuring a temperature tracking module that uses four different sensors: thermistor, heat flux, PPG (for measuring heart rate), and accelerometer. These sensors transmit data to an algorithm that uses movement, heart rate, and skin temperature to obtain health information.

The temperature tracking feature in ScanWatch 2 is not designed for advanced menstrual tracking, but rather to monitor temperature fluctuations throughout the day. It establishes a baseline temperature to help users optimize their workouts and detect potential health conditions. During workouts, the watch shows temperature zones, and afterwards, it shows recovery temperatures. However, it does not alert users that they may be getting sick, but only detects abnormal temperature fluctuations.

Withings took a cautious approach to developing the temperature tracking feature to avoid the lengthy FDA approval process that delayed sales of the original ScanWatch in the United States for nearly two years.

ScanWatch Light is a simplified and cheaper version of the smartwatch that costs $249.99. It has a design with a thin bezel and brighter colors such as rose gold, pastel blue, and mint green. This model lacks the temperature, ECG, atrial fibrillation detection, and high and low heart rate alerts that the ScanWatch 2 has. The watch also does not track altitude and blood oxygen levels.

The ScanWatch 2 features a sapphire crystal, while the ScanWatch Light has a Gorilla Glass dial, but both models have stainless steel cases for a premium look.

Both ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light boast a battery life of up to 30 days on a single charge.
