Sony presented Xperia 5 V – main features of the smartphone

Sony has unveiled the Xperia 5 V smartphone, a junior version of the flagship with fewer cameras and a slightly lower price, writes Engadget.

First of all, Xperia 5 V has an Exmor T sensor with a 1/1.35-inch matrix and a resolution of 52 megapixels. The company has also improved the bokeh effect with artificial intelligence to make images closer to the standards of interchangeable lens cameras. In addition, Sony has used a second ultra-wide-angle 12-megapixel camera with a focal length of 16 mm.

Notably, the main sensor has a much higher resolution and can dynamically switch between 24mm and 48mm focal lengths (approximately 48mm and 96mm in 35mm equivalent). Users will therefore get the equivalent of a 2x optical zoom (lossless), which should result in much sharper images.

The smartphone will also be able to shoot 4K video at up to 120 frames per second in HDR mode. Xperia 5 V has optical image stabilization and 5-axis stabilization for maximum smoothness.

Other features include HDR recording, eye tracking, Creative Look color presets, and a new Video Creator app that automatically creates the final video based on selected footage and music. For audio creators, there is a special microphone that separates the user’s voice from other voices and sounds.

The Xperia 5 V has a 6.1-inch HD+ OLED display with a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels. For movie watching, the smartphone features Sony TV Bravia X1 technology for mobile devices, as well as a newly developed front-facing speaker system.

Thanks to energy-saving technologies, the 5000 mAh battery can operate for more than 24 hours without recharging and retain 80% or more of its capacity for three years.

The Xperia 5 V should also be reliable for gaming thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, 120Hz refresh rate, and larger heat dissipation plate. It also comes with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage.

Despite the slight price reduction in Europe, the Xperia 5 V is not cheap. It costs 999 euros and will go on sale “at the end of September.”
