Garmin has released new Venu 3 and Venu 3S smartwatches, focusing on advanced sleep tracking and personalization features. The models feature proactive sleep training and nap detection, which is a unique feature as most smartwatches from competitors such as Apple, Samsung, and Google only track sleep at night. The Venu 3 series allows users to monitor daytime sleep as well.

The Venu 3 Sleep Coach takes into account various factors such as daily activity levels, sleep history, and heart rate variability (HRV), a new metric for the Venu series. Based on these factors, the sleep coach offers recommendations on the amount of sleep you need for optimal performance the next day. The watch is also equipped with the Body Battery tool, which quantifies energy levels on a scale from 1 to 100, taking into account the periods of sleep detected by the device.

The Venu 3 also has a wheelchair mode that tracks push instead of pull and offers pre-loaded workouts specifically for wheelchair users. It also provides information on the impact of the workout and the recovery time required. A new “perceived exertion level” feature allows users to report how difficult a workout was, adding a subjective dimension to fitness tracking. The watch also has an “interval creator” feature for runners and cyclists who can create interval workouts directly on the watch face.

Venu 3 and 3S differ in body size and diagonal of the AMOLED touchscreen. The Venu 3 has a 45 mm size and a 1.4-inch display with a resolution of 454×454 pixels. Venu 3S uses a more compact 41 mm body and a smaller 1.2-inch screen with a resolution of 390×390 pixels.

Both models have 8 GB of internal storage, support the installation of third-party apps and watch faces from the Garmin Connect IQ store, play music from your own storage or from Spotify, and make contactless payments with Garmin Pay.

The Venu 3 starts at $449.99 and boasts up to 14 days of battery life (5 days with the screen always on). It has a lightweight stainless steel bezel and offers 22mm white or black silicone bands. The Venu 3S, despite its smaller size, starts at the same price, promises up to 10 days of battery life (5 days with the screen always on), and has the same design in more colors with 18 mm silicone straps.
