The main reason Zoom employees return to the office is to build trust among employees. This was announced by the company’s CEO Eric Yuan during a meeting on August 3, Ars Technica writes with reference to Business Insider.

In his opinion, “remote work does not allow people to build trust and be as innovative.” The CEO is convinced that trust is the foundation of everything, and losing it will lead to a slowdown.

“Over the past several years, we’ve hired so many new ‘Zoomies’ that it’s really hard to build trust,” said Eric Yuan at the meeting.

In 2022, he told Stanford Business School that during the pandemic, the number of Zoom employees tripled from 2,000 to 6,000.

Another reason for gathering employees in the office was the desire to stimulate innovation, which, according to the CEO, comes from more heated conversations and debates, which is not so common in Zoom.

“Everyone” tends to be very friendly when you join a Zoom call.”

Earlier it was reported that Zoom asks all employees within a 50-mile (80 km) radius of the company’s office to work at least two days a week on a mixed schedule. In January 2022, Zoom announced that only 2% of its employees worked in an office, and it looks like this number will now increase significantly.
