After only four weeks of release, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie became the highest-grossing film of all Warner Bros. Pictures in Ukraine. The film has already grossed 110.2 million UAH, surpassing the final collection of the previous leader, according to Kinomania, the official distributor of Warner Bros. Pictures.

Before the release of Barbie, Warner Bros. Pictures’ most successful film in Ukraine was Aquaman. The movie, directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa, was released in the country in December 2018. Its final box office gross reached UAH 108.7 million.

It is worth noting that Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, became the highest grossing film directed by a woman in the world. Barbie was released in Ukrainian cinemas on July 20. The film is still playing in cinemas.

Earlier it was reported that Barbie grossed $155 million at the box office in the US over the first weekend in the US. This was the highest grossing film ever directed by a woman at the U.S. box office. The previous record was held by Anna Boden’s Captain Marvel, which grossed $153 million.
