The cage fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk ended before it even started, writes Ars Technica.

In Threads, CEO Meta Zuckerberg said that he was tired of talking about the fight because Elon Musk never took it seriously.

“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on,” the CEO of Meta said.

The idea of organizing a cage fight between billionaires was proposed by Elon Musk in June. At that time, Mark Zuckerberg, who trains with mixed martial arts fighters, asked him to send him the coordinates of the fight venue.

It seemed that Elon Musk was also serious about the fight. He offered to broadcast the event live for charity.

Now, Mark Zuckerberg claims that his opponent kept postponing the fight, apparently hoping to continue the Internet joke, but not wanting to set a real date. According to him, Elon Musk only suggested a date for a training round in the octagon at the Meta CEO’s house.

“Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead”, Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Threads. “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me.”

At the same time, Elon Musk on the X platform jokes that it was Mark Zuckerberg who backed out of the fight. His version is that the Meta CEO was supposedly too afraid of the training battle. Now, owner of X jokes that he will still show up for the unplanned training.

“I’m gonna bang on his door tomorrow and demand to fight”, – wrote Elon Musk on X.

Perhaps the battle between the tech giants will never take place. However, Mark Zuckerberg gave this initiative a chance.

“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on.”
