We’ve already talked about the Aston Martin DB12 super coupe, and now its open version, the Aston Martin DB12 Volante, has appeared. By the way, the word Volante has been used to refer to open Astons for many years: a kind of company tradition.

The new Aston Martin DB12 Volante convertible fully imitates the coupe technique. A 4-liter turbo V8 with 680 horsepower is installed under the hood. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic and an electronically controlled rear differential. The interior with high-quality leather, numerous buttons and switches, and the latest 10.25-inch display also remained unchanged.

The main difference is the reinforcement of various body elements and a 3.7% increase in overall stiffness. All to make the new Aston Martin DB12 Volante convertible look like an Aston Martin DB12 coupe on the road.

However, the reinforcement of the elements has led to an increase in weight: the Aston Martin DB12 Volante weighs 1898 kg, which is 110 kg more than the coupe. Due to the weight gain, the dynamics have been somewhat lost: acceleration from 0-100 km/h now takes 3.7 seconds versus 3.6 seconds for the coupe version. But the top speed is the same and amounts to 325 km/h.

And how important are those split seconds when the air is whistling in your ears?
