Music streaming giant Spotify has launched a beta version of an artificial intelligence DJ in 50 markets around the world, writes The Verge.

The feature creates and annotates an updated personalized playlist. It’s now available on the English-language version of the app for Spotify Premium subscribers in countries where Spotify has made it available.

The service announced the AI feature back in the winter. At the time, the beta version was only available to Premium subscribers in the USA and Canada.

For this feature, the company has combined its own personalization algorithms with OpenAI technologies. It also uses the Sonantic text-to-speech engine (Spotify acquired this platform in 2022).

To create the voice model, the company worked with Xavier “X” Jernigen, who previously hosted Spotify’s morning show.

By the way, Spotify recently announced a subscription price increase. The company attributed the move to innovations on the platform.
