Sotheby’s auction house is offering a pair of rare vintage Apple trainers for $50,000. This is not an auction, but a fixed-price sale. This offer is announced by BBC.
These are trainers that were made to order only for company employees in the 1990s and were a gift for attending an Apple conference.
This particular pair has never been sold before. It features a white leather top and the classic rainbow Apple logo on the tongue and next to the laces.
The retailer described the trainers as “one of the most obscure in existence,” emphasizing the rarity of the shoe and its value on the resale market.
Although judging by the description of Apple’s trainers “new in the box”, time has taken its toll on them. The pair has some imperfections including yellowing around the sole.
If you are already interested, then this is a size 41. There is also an alternate pair of red laces in the box.
Of course, trainers are not rare original iPhone with 4 GB of memory, but they are also offered for four times less.
