More than 2 billion registered users watch YouTube Shorts every month, giving the video format an edge over competitors including TikTok and Instagram Reels. This was announced by Google, writes TechCrunch.

In its results for the second quarter of 2023, Google also reported that YouTube brought in $7.67 billion thanks to advertising. This is 4% more compared to the same period last year and above the expectations of market analysts.

The company focuses on a variety of offerings on YouTube. In April, it began pre-selling subscriptions to Sunday NFL games that will begin airing in the fall. YouTube also struck a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to offer the Max-NFL Sunday Ticket package on YouTube TV.

By the way, YouTube steps up the fight against fan channels and updated the relevant policy. It will be effective from August 21. According to the new requirements of the platform, users who maintain fan accounts will have to indicate in the name or description of the channel that they do not officially represent a particular person.

So, if a fan channel copies the general look of the official channel, including its profile picture or background, it may be closed.
