Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, which positions itself as a developer of a safer type of chatbot, has released a new version of its AI bot called Claude. This is reported by Bloomberg.

Claude 2 is available to anyone in the US or UK at claude.ai, and businesses can access it through an API.

The release of the new version comes months after Anthropic began offering an earlier version of Claude to companies that wanted to add it to their products. The bot has previously been tested by several companies, including Quora Inc., which built it into the Poe app, which allows users to ask questions.

Like its predecessor, Claude 2 is built on a large language model and can be used for writing tasks such as summarizing, searching, answering questions, and coding. Both models can process large pieces of text. For example, the user can ask the bot to briefly explain the content of the book.

However, Claude 2 can generate longer responses than its predecessor. According to the company, the answers can reach about 3,000 words. Claude 2 will also offer more accurate answers to some topics, such as coding and math at the elementary school level.

Anthropic’s goal was to make Claude less vulnerable to manipulation than other chatbots. The Company seeks to control the generation of harmful or offensive results in response to tips. This is a problem with competing chatbots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

The startup said Claude 2 is better than the existing model at generating what Anthropic calls “harmless responses” to “harmful prompts.”

San Francisco-based Anthropic was founded in 2021 by several former OpenAI employees. In May, the company announced that it had raised $450 million in funding, bringing its total funding to over $1 billion.
